Cologne (Germany), May 25 (IANS) German football club Cologne extended the contracts of Joerg Schmadtke and Alexander Wehrle for a long term.

The newly promoted club completed the Bundesliga season in 12th place and as a reward the ‘Geissboecke’ on Sunday extended the contracts of Schmadtke and Wehrle who enjoy equal rights as Cologne managers, reports Xinhua.

“Under the guidance of Alexander Wehrle and Joerg Schmadtke Cologne developed extremely positive results in recent years. The board is therefore very pleased that we were able to bind both on a long term to ensure continuity for the club in this crucial position,” Cologne president Werner Spinner said.

Schmadtke joined Cologne in June 2013 and inked an extension until June 2020 while Wehrle, who is in-charge since January 2013, put pen to paper on a deal until June 2021.

“We thank the board for the great confidence in us and for the opportunity to continue our work for the development of Cologne in the long term,” Wehrle said.
