Congress defers its public rally on economic slowdown

New Delhi: The Congress has deferred its public rally proposed on November 30 to December 14 due to ongoing winter session of Parliament. The rally was to be held in the national capital against the looming economic crisis and slowdown.

As per sources, the public rally will now be held on December 14 at Ramlila Maidan in New Delhi with all the non-NDA leaders in attendance. The party has geared up for the proposed rally by calling a meeting of all the state and central office bearers to mobilize support for the same.

The Congress has accused the Narendra Modi-led government of leading the country to starvation due to ‘anti-people policies’, the party said.

According to party leaders, the rally named “Bharat Bachao” will be addressed by the party’s interim Chief Sonia Gandhi, former party President Rahul Gandhi and general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra.

The party had held a meeting on November 16 of all general secretaries, in-charges, secretaries, frontal organisation chiefs and the state unit chiefs, the party General Secretary K.C. Venugopal had said.

“We have decided to hold a mega rally against the anti-people policies of the government to highlight the people oriented issues against the central government,” he had said.
