Congress leaders demand arrest of Republic TV head Arnab Goswami; #ArrestAntiIndiaArnab top trend on Twitter

Delhi (NH): Hours after National Herald-Navjivan broke the story of several complaints filed against Republic TV head and anchor Arnab Goswami in Chhattisgarh, Congress leaders took to Twitter to demand Arnab’s arrest in Palghar mob-lynching case for hate-mongering, spreading rumours and defaming Congress President Sonia Gandhi.

Many leaders of the grand old party, came down heavily on Goswami for dragging Sonia Gandhi’s name in the debate.

While debating the issue, Arnab, in one of the video clips doing rounds in social media, can be heard defaming Sonia Gandhi.

Chief Minister of Rajasthan Ashok Gehlot said Arnab ‘has gone insane’. Demanding action against Arnab, Gehlot asked the Republic TV owner to sack Arnab. Congress Spokesperson RS Surjewala also took to Twitter to condemn Goswami.

Supreme Court lawyer and Congress spokesperson Brijesh Kalappa said that the Republic TV anchor will be punished for his acts.

Sources privy to the development told NH that the Maharashtra government is also mulling action against Goswami and other news anchors for spreading rumours and giving a communal turn to the Palghar incident. However, no official confirmation has come yet.

Meanwhile, TV 9 reporter Supriya Bharadwaj, citing sources, has tweeted that FIR has been registered in some states against the anchor. However, she refrained from naming the states.
