Congress Workers Celebrate Recognition of Tulu as Official Language
Mangaluru: Congress workers in Mangaluru celebrated following Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar’s announcement that Tulu would be accorded recognition as Karnataka’s second official language.
The celebrations were held in front of the Congress district office in Mangaluru, where party workers burst firecrackers and distributed sweets.
Along with the Congress flag, the Tulu Nadu flag was also displayed during the celebrations. Welcoming the announcement granting Tulu official recognition, the workers exchanged sweets and expressed their happiness.
The workers said they were delighted that the government had responded to the coastal region’s long-standing demand for official Tulu recognition. They raised slogans and celebrated the announcement.
Similar celebrations were also reported in several places across Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts.
