Consolidation of Hindu votes helped BJP to come to power – Pejawar Swamiji

Udupi: Pejawar Math’s Sri Vishwesha Theertha Swamiji has urged the elected representatives to join hands and raise voice in favour of the construction of Ram Mandir in Ayodhya.

Speaking to media persons in Udupi on Friday, May 7 he said that everyone, irrespective of party affiliations, should support the idea of the construction of Ram Mandir. He said that all the newly elected MPs, including AICC President Rahul Gandhi, should support the cause of the construction of Ram Mandir.

“Consolidation of Hindu votes helped BJP to come to power again,” he said while replying to queries on the reasons behind the BJP’s thumping victory in the recently concluded Lok Sabha polls. The Swamiji said that most of the political parties, including Congress, raised voice against the Hindutva ideology.

This made the Hindus unite and vote against Congress. Political parties did not make development issues an election agenda and were only maligning the ‘Hindutva’ ideology. Thus religious rhetoric should not be the main election issue during the elections. “Development issues should be the fundamental election issues,” the Swamiji stressed.

Vishwesha Theertha Swami further said that political parties should have fought independently. The Kashmir issue should be sorted out and peace has to be restored. The agriculture sector should be prioritised by the Modi-led central government, he added.

The Swamiji, who returned from Modi’s swearing-in ceremony in New Delhi on Friday, said the ceremony was good and well organised.

  1. Every community does what’s in their best interest. This is why minorities overwhelmingly vote for anti hindu political parties. This time, BJP has managed to beat these political parties in their own game. I hope there is a lesson for everyone.
