Constable Suspended for Assaulting Minister Madhwaraj’s Factory Staff
Udupi: A police constable of the Malpe Police station was suspended for assaulting the factory worker for alleged eve-teasing his wife at Malpe here on April 8.
The suspended police constable has been identified as Prakash.
According to Prakash, on April 5, he was taking his pregnant wife to the doctor on his motorbike. Two unidentified persons on bike teased Prakash’s wife. Prakash warned the bikers not to tease his wife but they continued to tease her. Prakash got upset over their attitude, he stopped their bike and assaulted Kumar. Kumar works for a Fishmeal company in Malpe.
Later Prakash went to the Udupi Town Women’s police station to file a complaint, but they refused to accept the complaint. Injured Kumar filed a complaint against the police which was registered in the Udupi police station.
Now the issue has taken a political turn as the injured is works for the fishmeal company belonging to the District minister in-charge Pramodh Madhwaraj. It is alleged that due to pressure from the minister the police constable has been suspended.
Kumar works as a tractor driver in the Fishmeal company. He has been admitted to a private hospital.
Speaking to the media persons, Pramod Madhwaraj said, “We have filed a complaint against the police constable since he has assaulted our tractor driver. If Kumar has done any mistake let him file a complaint against him and the police will take action. Instead, he has taken the law into his hands and assaulted our driver which is not right. After Prakash was suspended, his wife has filed a complaint against Kumar”.
PC Prakash’s wife Jyothi has filed a complaint against Kumar in the Udupi Town Women’s police station.
