Coronavirus: Karnataka orders bars, pubs in Bengaluru shut till March 31, metro to remain closed on Sunday

Bengaluru: Karnataka government on Friday ordered the closure of all bars and pubs in Bengaluru till March 31 as the state prepares to fight the outbreak of deadly novel coronavirus.

The government order also says that while kitchens in hotels and restaurants within Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike limits can remain open but only takeaways will be allowed.

Meanwhile, the Bengaluru metro has announced that its services will remain suspended on March 22, Sunday in wake of Janata Curfew announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his address to the nation on Thursday.

In his address, Prime Minister Narendra Modi requested the countrymen to stay indoors as much as possible. He has also urged the nation to observe a 14-hour-long Janata Curfew between 7 am and 9 pm on Sunday.

“It may kindly be noted that in wake of Janata Curfew on Sunday, BMRCL has decided to keep its services closed. This is to encourage the public to stay indoors to maintain social distancing,” an official statement said.
