Court Denies Bail to Three Accused in Kota Double Murder Case

Udupi: The Kundapur JMFC court on February 19 rejected the bail of 3 of the accused out of 16, who were allegedly involved in the Kota double murder case.

Senior advocate Ravikiran Murdeshwar moved the bail application for three of the accused including Two DAR Police officials Pavan Ameen, Veerendra Acharya and College student Pranav Rao in the Kundapur additional JMFC Court on February 15. The Public prosecutor Sumangala Nayak objected the bail and appealed to reject the application.

The prosecution claimed that the case is still under the inquiry stage. There is a suspicion that the accused were directly involved in the murder case. This is not the right time to take the decision. Since two of the accused in this case are police officials, they may destroy the pieces of evidence. After hearing from both the sides, the Additional JMFC Judge Srikanth rejected the bail application.

For the purpose of further investigation of the police officials, the Udupi DySP Jaishanker appealed to the court to give police custody to DAR Police Pawan Ameen who is one of the accused in this case. The Court remanded Pawan Ameen to police custody for three days.

Meanwhile, the police arrested one more person identified as Mohammed Thouseef (28). Mohammed had helped the accused to escape after the incident.

With the arrest of Mohammed, the number of arrested in the brutal murder of Bharath and Yathish on January 26 has risen to Seventeen.

An argument over the construction of a leach pit led to the murder of Bharath (30) and Yathish (25). They were murdered at Cikkanakere, Mannur village in Kota on January 26, and a case was registered in the Kota police station.
