Covid-19 effect: Udupi Sri Krishna Temple Closed for Tourists

Udupi: To check the spread of Covid-19, Sri Krishna Temple, Udupi has been shut down for tourists on the directives of the state government.

In a bid to prevent assembly of a large number of people and check the spread of coronavirus the Temple has been closed as a precautionary measure. The Temple administration has appealed to the devotees to postpone their visit to Udupi for a few days in view of the coronavirus outbreak in the country.

Several prominent Temples in Udupi district including the Mandarthi, Anegudde and Kollur Temples will remain closed for devotees till further notice.

According to the deputy commissioner G Jagadeesha, 24 people were suspected to be suffering from Covid-19 of which 16 samples have so far tested negative. Government departments teeming with people will remain closed till March 31, he added.

The registrar office, Atalji Kendras, Aadhaar centres, Spandana, RTO, Gram panchayats and urban civic bodies will remain closed. But emergency services like fire, police and hospitals will remain operational. The staff will report to work and will attend to emergency cases, said the deputy commissioner.
