COVID – 19: MIA Takes Precautionary Measures, Screens all Passengers with Infrared Thermometers

Mangaluru: As per the guidelines /advisory/ directives from the Ministry of Health and family welfare, universal screening is performed for all the passengers arriving via international flights at Mangaluru International Airport. All precautions and guidelines from the Ministry of Health and family welfare are being adhered to by Mangaluru International Airport.

The Airport Health Organization (APHO) has been established in this Airport to ensure 100% screening of International passengers and the passenger screening is performed with infrared thermometers. Mangaluru International Airport has also adopted precautionary measures such as display of informative standees, banners and placement of sanitizers at key locations in the airport to comply with the guidelines issued by the Ministry of Health and family welfare.

The Housekeeping staff at this airport are sensitized about the COVID-19 and they are taking all precautionary measures such as disinfection for all escalators, elevators, conveyor belts, trollies, railings etc at the airport at regular intervals. All agencies/contractors operating at Airport have been advised to provide masks, gloves and sanitizers to all their personnel as per the guidelines of Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

Regular Meetings are held with the district health authorities to sensitize all the stakeholders of the airport. Moreover, a sensitization class was conducted at the airport by NDRF regarding COVID- 19 and the session included a demonstration of PPEs. The district administration health officials visit the airport at regular intervals to take stock of all the facilities made available at the airport.
