CP Dr Harsha Gives Additional Manpower to Crack Drug Trade, 4 Arrested in 2 More Cases
Mangaluru: After the murder of the 16-year-old girl in Kambla Padav by her own brother who is addicted to drugs, the Police Commissioner has given additional manpower to crack down on drug Peddling in and around the city with zero tolerance against those involved in the drug trade.
On October 31, 4 college students were arrested by the CCB police and drugs were seized from their possession.
The police are continuing their search operations to curb the drug menace. On November 1, the Kankanady Town police arrested two drug Peddlers who were trying to sell ganja to the public at Bajal Cross.
The arrested have been identified as Shivakumar alias Shivu (26) and Kumar S (23) from Mysuru.
The police seized 240 grams of Ganja from their possession.
In another case, the CCB police along with the Mangaluru South Police arrested two more drug peddlers in the heart of the city.
The arrested have been identified as Mohammed Haneef (32) from Deralakatte and Mohammed Shafiq (29) from Kasargod.
According to the police, the accused were selling banned drugs and ganja to the public near the Football ground at Nehru Maidan. On November 1, on getting reliable information about the drug peddlers, the CCB police along with the South Police arrested the accused.
The police seized 525 grams of the banned drugs worth Rs 21,000, two mobile phones and cash Rs 2000 all worth Rs 33,000 from their possession.
The accused Haneef was involved in Ganja peddling and a case was earlier registered against him in the Mangaluru North, Konaje police station and Mangaluru South Police stations.
Under the direction of police Commissioner Dr Harsha and the guidance of DCP Law and Order Arunagshu and DCP crime and traffic Lakshmi Ganesh and under the able leadership of ACP South Subdivision T Kodandaram the operation was carried out by the CCV police and Mangaluru South police.
