CP Dr Harsha Initiates ‘Asha Kirana’ to train and Transform Criminals

Mangaluru: “I have interacted with rowdy-sheeters and adviced them to transform through “Asha Kirana” which provides them with necessary skill development training. We have already discussed this initiative with various institutions like ITI, KPT, Kaushalya Karnataka, KSD and other government agencies. We have formed a team of the officers from the Karnataka Skill Development, Kaushalya Karnataka, Centre for Entrepreneurship and the principal of ITI. Some of the rowdy-sheeters under each police station limits have been identified for training. By the end of this month, training for the first batch will begin”, said police commissioner Dr Harsha during the service parade programme at the CAR grounds here on September 13.

Dr Harsha further said, “We are helping the rowdy-sheeters to earn their livelihood. Many have approached us and we have collected the necessary documents from them. To start the courses all the necessary documents have been forwarded to the concerned institutions. Those who have basic education will be trained in welding and other relevant courses so that they can get jobs to earn their livelihood. Those who are educated and have adequate qualification, we will train them for the IT industry so that they can get jobs in corporate offices”.

Dr Harsha also said, “Those who want to transform, the police department is with them and will help them. But those who do not want to change and continue their criminal activities, we are keeping an eye on them and they will be punished using all the provisions of the law.  You all have the same rights as any one of us to live in this society. If you continue your illegal or anti-social activities we will take strict action under the law. We will not rest until the criminals are punished,” warned Dr Harsha.

“By the end of this month or the first week of October, the skill development training will begin for those who want to transform and lead a disciplined normal life in society”, stressed Dr Harsha.
