Cricket betting: CCB sleuths arrest two in Mangaluru
Mangaluru: The CCB sleuths arrested two persons for allegedly engaging in cricket betting in Surathkal and Kavoor police station limits. The arrested are Deepak, 33, from Haleyangadi, Chelyaru Post and Sandeep Shetty, 38, from Marakada, Kavoor.
City police commissioner Anupam Agrawal said that the two were reportedly engaged in betting at Chelyaru under Surathkal police station limits and Falneer in Kavoor police station limits. Based on reliable information that the accused were engaged in betting in connection with the ongoing Cricket World Cup matches using a mobile app, a raid was conducted.
Police have seized Rs 31,000 that the accused had collected from the public and four mobile phones. The total value of the seized property is Rs 1.1 lakh. Cases have been registered at Kavoor and Surathkal police stations.
