Dan Reynolds honours Cornell at Billboard Music Awards
Las Vegas, May 22 (IANS) Dan Reynolds from Imagine Dragons band delivered a touching tribute to the late Soundgarden and Audioslave singer Chris Cornell at the Billboard Music Awards here.

During the May 21 night’s awards ceremony, Reynolds took to the stage to honour Cornell, who passed away last week at 52, reports eonline.com.

“Although tonight is a time to celebrate the music and artistes of the past year, it’s also a time to remember someone we lost this week. Soundgarden and Audioslave’s Chris Cornell was a true innovator, a musical architect and a pioneer on the cutting edge of the Seattle grunge movement,” Reynolds shared.

“He was a prolific songwriter, a legendary performer, a singer who had a voice for the ages and a philanthropic whose Chris and Vicky Cornell Foundation helped so many children around the world.”

He continued: “Even though Chris is gone, his legacy endures. We send our respects as well as our love to Chris’ family at this time.”

Before leaving the stage, Reynolds asked the audience to join in a moment of silence before going to a commercial break.

The tribute comes as several rock bands continue to pay tribute to the singer in various concerts.

U2 and Metallica were just some of the bands who delivered special performances over the weekend.

The tributes continue to pour in as reports have surfaced that Cornell will be laid to rest in Los Angeles on Friday. A private funeral service at Hollywood Forever Cemetery is being planned for the late rock vocalist.
