Dept will take action against illegal liquor suppliers – SP Annamalai

Chikkamagaluru: Raising the illegal sale of liquor, the Police department with the help of excise department will take serious action against illegal sellers said Annamalai Superintendent of Police Chikkamagaluru district.

He was speaking to the media persons after visiting the Balehonnur police station on September 30. Annamalai said that Chikkamagaluru district is facing illegal sale of liquor since many years. The department has already booked more than 200 illegal liquor sale cases in the rural areas across the district. The department will also book cases against legal shop owners who are encouraging illegal activities.

The state government had directed the recruitment of necessary staff for the police department. So far 131 staff has been recruited in the district, remaining vacancies will be filled by the end of December. To work effectively a new UPS has been provided for all the police stations in the district. Jana Samparka meetings will be held in Menasinahadya and Kondoor area within a month, the date will be announced soon, he added.

Replying to the issue of illegal Bangladeshis, Annamalai said that District police have been in touch with the planters and their associations to ensure they verify their workers’ identities before hiring them. We have also directed them to submit the details of their labourers within ten days, after checking the details the department will take action.

Replying to the query of the water leakage in the Police personal quarters, Annamalai said that the state government is providing maximum funds to the police department. We will sort out the problem as early as possible, he added.
