District women’s Association condemns Attack on DC and AC

Udupi: The attack on the deputy commissioner who is a woman has brought shame to the district, said ZP Vice President Sheela K Shetty. She was speaking at a protest organized by the district women’s Association against the attack on the deputy commissioner during the raid on sand mining areas. The protest was organised in front of the Clock Tower Udupi here on April 6.

The incident on Sunday night at Kandlur is a black spot for the district. The sand mafia has gone ahead and attacked the deputy commissioner. Such incidents discourage honest officials. The sand mafia has destroyed the traditional method of sand mining and is trying to rule the district. The government should take action against the sand mafia and a sand mining policy should be implemented in the district.

The Deputy Commissioner and the Assistant Commissioner have been abused while they were doing their duty. Such incidents question the safety for women in workplaces. The accused involved in attacking the deputy commissioner should be arrested soon.

Women leaders Sarala Kanchan, Vasanthi Rao, Dhanalaxmi, Yamuna Kunder, Leena Mathias, Mallika Balakrishna and others were present.
