DK Records Highest Single-day Spike with 307 Coronavirus Positive Cases on Aug 14
Mangaluru: According to the district health bulletin, 307 persons have tested positive for the Coronavirus and 6 persons have died of COVID-19 in Dakshina Kannada district on August 14. This is the highest single-day spike since the first positive case was confirmed in Dakshina Kannada district.
Out of the 307 positive cases, 130 persons are suffering from influenza-like illness (ILI), 9 persons are suffering from Severe Acute Respiratory Infection (SARI) and 44 persons contracted the disease from primary contacts. The health officials are tracing the contacts of 124 others.
Out of the 307 cases tested positive, 197 persons are from Mangaluru, 57 from Bantwal, 14 from Puttur, 14 from Belthangady, 17 from Sullia and 8 from other districts.
Meanwhile, 242 persons were also discharged from the hospital after complete recovery.
So far 8378 positive cases have been reported in the district and 256 of them have died of the disease. At present, there are 2007 active cases in the district.
All the 307 persons have been shifted to the designated COVID hospitals for further treatment.
