Dr Gerald Pinto (Gerry Niddodi) Conferred with Konkani Literary Award by Konkani Lekhak Sangh-Karnataka

Mangaluru: During the press meet held at Mangaluru Press Club, Richard Moras-the Convener of Konkani Lekhak Sangh-Karnataka said, “The Konkani Lekhak Sangh Karnataka – is a voluntary association exclusively formed with the sole intention of promoting Konkani language and literature in the year 2018. From the year 2022, Konkani Lekhak Sangh has decided to select and honour a Konkani writer who has immensely contributed to Konkani literature”.

Moras further said, “For 2024, the Konkani Lekhak Sangh award committee has selected a well-known Konkani writer Dr Gerald Pinto (Gerry Niddodi). The award includes a cash prize of Rs 25000/-, a citation and a Memento. Dr Gerald Pinto served as the President of the Catholic Sabha, Central Committee, and as an ‘Amcho Sandesh’ Editor. He is the recipient of the Danthy Memorial Award, Konkani Kutam Bahrain Award, Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy Award, Divo Sahitya Award and Amcho Sandesh Silver Jubilee Award. He has also served as the Director of ‘Manasa’ Pamboor. He has served as Principal of Milagres College, Kallianpur, Udupi. Presently he is the Director of MCC Bank Ltd., Mangalore.”

Dr Gerald Pinto has written 6 Novels, 75 short stories and more than 900 articles on different subjects. The award will be conferred at a function on February 17, 2024, at 6.30 p.m., at Sandesha Premises, Sandesha Foundation, Bajjodi, Mangaluru.

Other members Present at the Press meeting were Dolphy F. Lobo – Committee member; Henry Mascarenhas – Committee member and J.F. D’Souza – Advisory committee member.
