Energy Minister K.J. George, Minister for Bengaluru Development Krishna Byre Gowda Inaugurate Kuvempu Theme Park in HBR Layout

* Theme park constructed in Sarvagnanagar using KPTCL’s CSR funds
* Ministers launch various development works in the constituency

Bengaluru: Energy and Tourism Minister K.J. George and Bengaluru Urban Development Minister C.B. Krishna Byre Gowda on Today inaugurated the Kuvempu Theme Park in HBR Layout, developed by the Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Limited (KPTCL) under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative.


KPTCL has constructed the theme park in the HBR Layout area of the Sarvagnanagar Assembly constituency under its CSR initiative. Speaking after inaugurating the park, Energy and Tourism Minister K.J. George, who is also the MLA of the constituency, said, “This theme park is an excellent contribution towards a greener Bengaluru and is a testimony to the government’s commitment to building a clean and green Bengaluru.”

“KPTCL has constructed this beautiful park on its own property using CSR funds. As a result, a place in HBR Layout that was earlier overgrown with scrub vegetation has now been transformed into an attractive public space. On behalf of the people of the constituency and the citizens of Bengaluru, I thank former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, current Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, and the KPTCL officials and staff who contributed to developing this beautiful park,” he said.

Speaking on the occasion, Bengaluru Urban Development Minister Krishna Byre Gowda said,

“Energy Minister K.J. George, who is also the MLA of Sarvagnanagar, is not only successfully managing his department but is also extending significant support towards building a beautiful Bengaluru. KPTCL has opened up its own property for the people of the constituency, and with the corporation’s support, a place that was earlier covered with bushes and vegetation has now been transformed into an excellent park.”

He added that the park would develop into a community activity centre for everyone, from children to senior citizens. “This space will play an important role in making Bengaluru more beautiful,” Krishna Byre Gowda said.

After inaugurating the park, both ministers took a tour of the premises and reviewed its various facilities. KPTCL Director (Projects) R. Jayakumar, senior officials of the corporation and Congress leaders from the Sarvagnanagar Assembly constituency were present at the programme.

Special Features of Kuvempu Theme Park

The theme park has transformed an area of 1,500 square metres in HBR Layout into a green zone. The park features a 700-metre walking track, an open-air theatre with seating for 100 people, a drinking water facility, toilets, a flagpole, a gazebo for relaxation, and space for a Nandini milk outlet and a HOPCOMS store.

The park also has children’s play equipment, open-gym equipment, stone benches for relaxation, special varieties of plants and a well-equipped lighting system.

KPTCL has developed the park at an estimated cost of ₹4.65 crore.

Development Works Launched

Following the inauguration of the Kuvempu Theme Park, Ministers K.J. George and Krishna Byre Gowda launched various development works in different parts of Sarvagnanagar.

These included white-topping of Nagawara Main Road, rejuvenation works at Kacharakanahalli Lake and a waste segregation centre. They also inspected the LIDKAR unit and the proposed market site on Banaswadi Main Road.

Bengaluru Urban Development Minister C.B. Krishna Byre Gowda said, “A new phase has begun in the development of Bengaluru. At the direction of Energy Minister K.J. George, BESCOM has extended unprecedented support to the Clean-Up Bengaluru campaign. Even during holidays, BESCOM staff conducted surveys across the city and removed unused electricity poles, transformers and other equipment obstructing pedestrian pathways. They also cleared waste from these areas.”

“BESCOM has played a significant role in the campaign. I congratulate Minister George and the officers and staff of BESCOM for their efforts,” he said.
