‘Feeding The Hungry, is Feeding Jesus’- Bishop of Mangaluru Diocese Rev Dr Peter Paul Saldanha while distributing Evening Meals for Migrants at Milagres Institutions. Sumptuous breakfast this morning was provided by St Antony Ward of Milagres Church, under the leadership of Ward Gurkar-John Monteiro.

Mangaluru: Quoting Holy Bible- Mathew 25:35-40 “For I was hungry and you gave something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me “, and that’s exactly was done in feeding evening meals to the nearly 600 plus migrants lodged at Milagres Institutions, Mangaluru. The answer is also found in Matthew 25:40 where Jesus says, “Whatever you have done to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters, you have done it to me.” One really does matter. You can help the needy around you in practical, creative ways.

Speaking to Team Mangalorean, Fr Michael Santhumayor- Campus Director at Milagres Institutions said, “Last Tuesday, the district administration requested us to provide our Milagres School campus to accommodate 50-100 migrant transit workers of UP for one or two days, until their train arrangements are done, but now it’s almost a week , where we have over 600 migrants, both gents and ladies here. There were quite a few complaints about insufficient, untimely and poor standard of food, except for the food supplied by White Doves, the migrants were impatient, and hence listening to their plea I told the Revenue department that we ourselves will make arrangements for food from today onwards through different Organizations. Those people who are in our campus are our guest , they to be treated and fed well, till they are here- and hence today Morning breakfast was supplied by John Monteiro, joined by Milagres St. Anthony Ward people. Noon Lunch was provided by Primus D’souza of Prince Caterers and his Mithun Rai Fan Club. Evening snacks was provided by Team Cause and night meals sponsored by John Samuel of Dubai. If these migrants are happy, we are happy”

After distributing the evening meals, Rev Dr Peter Paul Saldanha, the Bishop of Mangaluru speaking to Team Mangalorean said, “The face of the poor is the manifestation of the Lord, who became poor. “Whatever you do to the least of my brothers and sisters, You do unto me” says Jesus. In the evening of our life God will acknowledge what we have done to Him in his brethren. The poor are God’s instrument to grant us His Grace. God bless who help the poor. It is indeed a kind gesture of all the sponsors, the young and the old, who have come forward in feeding these hungry migrants, during this pandemic”.

Fr Michael Santhumayor, and other parishioners of Milagres Church, and Milagres Institutions helped in distributing the meals to the migrants.

ST ANTONY WARD OF MILAGRES CHURCH PROVIDE SUMPTUOUS BREAKFAST TO OVER 600 MIGRANTS

This morning, Tuesday 19 May, St ANTONY WARD of Milagres Church Mangaluru, along with parishioner/Ward Gurkar John Monteiro provided Sumptuous BREAKFAST for about 600 Migrants gathered at Milagres College Campus. The Breakfast included Upma, Sheera, Beaten Rice & Ragi Malt. The breakfast was distributed to the migrants by John Monteiro, Jude Fernandes Ward Rep, Robert Castelino & Lionel Briggs-both parishioners of the Church.

The migrants enjoyed the delicious breakfast and were so happy, that they were served second time to satisfy their hunger- and credit should go to Bhat Caterers for preparing quality & quantity food, which was served sufficiently. Speaking to Team Mangalorean, John Monteiro said, “When the district administration had left these migrants at our hands, it is our duty to take good care of them, by providing enough and good quality food. Apart from this contribution this morning from our Ward, we have also done little charity work for some of the Ashrams and old age homes. We are happy that we made these migrants happy”.
