Finally! Body of Nurse Hazel Mathias Arrives Today-Funeral on Friday
Mangaluru: Finally, after the Saudi administration had retained the mortal remains of the deceased nurse Hazel Jyotsna Mathias, hailing from Shirva, for over two months citing investigation, technical reasons, non-availability of officials etc etc, sources now reveal that her body will arrive by Gulf Airways cargo plane and will be received by her husband-Ashwin Mathias and other family members at the Kempegowda International Airport, Bengaluru today, 27 September at 3.30 pm, and from there it will be transported to Shirva/Udupi.
Earlier it was noted that Hazel’s body will reach her hometown on Monthi Festh day (8 September), then it was again delayed- and her body was suppose to arrive on Tuesday ( 25 Sept) and the the funeral arrangements were made for Wednesday ( 26 Sept)- that too changed- and now finally, her body is expected to reach today- unless last minute changes or strange things happen. All these days, Hazel’s family members have been spending days in a gloomy atmosphere.
Earlier, as per the recommendations made by MLC, Ivan D’Souza, a financial assistance of Rs one lakh rupees had been sanctioned to the members of the family of the deceased, by NRI Forum Karnataka, and also all arrangements have been made to bring the mortal remains after collecting the casket from Bengaluru airport. It is also noted that minister, Dr Jayamala, will be taking part in the funeral as a representative of the state government.
Hazel Mathias, daughter of Robert and Helen quadras, and wife of Ashwin Mathias, was working as a nurse at Al Miqua General Hospital in Abha Province-Jeddah, from the last six years. It is learnt that her last conversation with her family members and her husband was on July 19, 2018. But sadly two days later ( 19-7-29018 ) the family received shocking news that she was no more. Even though the Saudi officials have communicated with the family members that Hazel’s death was due her committing suicide, but her family members very much doubt about it, because she is would not take such a drastic step to end her life. The person who was responsible for her death has been in custody but it is gathered that subjecting him to stern legal action are remote.
