Former CEO of Sri Guru Raghavendra Bank Found Dead in his Car

Bengaluru: The former CEO of Sri Guru Raghavendra Co-operative Bank was found dead in his car after consuming poison on July 6. The car was parked near his house at Chikkalasandra.

The deceased has been identified as Vasudev Maiya (70) from Chikkalasandra. It is suspected to be a case of suicide.

According to the police, the Anti Corruption Bureau had raided the houses of the bank officials, including that of Vasudev Maiya in connection with a multi-crore scam in the bank. Various agencies like the Registrar of Co-operative societies, ED, CID, and RBI were probing the said scam.

Santhosh Kumar of Sri Guru Raghavendra Co-operative bank filed a complaint against Vasudev Maiya in connection with the multi-crore bank scam. Vasudev was taking care of the entire affairs of the bank from 2012 to 2018. During his tenure, there were irregularities to the tune of Rs 1400 crores.

It is suspected that Vasudev Maiya committed suicide fearing investigations. In this connection, a case has been registered in the Subramanya police station.
