Fr Walter Andrade SJ (78) of Fatima Retreat House No More
Mangaluru: Fr Walter Andrade SJ, passed away peacefully from this world into the embrace of the Heavenly Father around 5:15pm, on August 26th , 2020 at Fatima Retreat House, Mangaluru. He was in his 78 th year and a Jesuit for 53 years. He was a former Principal of St. Joseph’s College of Commerce and St. Joseph’s Evening College, Bengaluru and St. Aloysius Evening College, Mangaluru.
Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, August 28th at 3:30 PM at Divine Mercy Chapel, Fatima Retreat house, Jeppu, Mangaluru. Viewing from 2:30pm – 3:30 pm

Fr Walter Andrade, A true Jesuit to the core, a great human being, down to earth, always concerned for the underprivileged. He led a very simple life, a person of great faith, was well read and could speak on any subject at length. We used to look forward to spending time with him be it in Mangalore or Bangalore, to us he was a guide and mentor who was very practical in his approach. Under his able leadership as the Principals of the prestigious St. Joseph’s College of Commerce, the institution got name and fame in Academics, Sports and other cultural activities. He was well loved by students and faculty, staff and all whom he interacted with. Despite his poor health he forged ahead and gave his 100 % to the institutions he was associated with & wanted to work till his last breath, unfortunately his failing eye sight was an impediment. A loss to the good Jesuit community, a personal loss to many of us, rest in peace dear Walty Padraab. Our condolences to the Jesuit community and his close relatives in India and abroad.
