Ganja-peddlers Arrested in Separate Cases in Udupi and Manipal

Udupi: The DCIB police have seized ganja and arrested five persons in two separate cases in Udupi and Manipal on Thursday.

Lakshminarayana Bhat of Sellemane in Amladi, Hosanagara was found roaming around in the city bus stand in the evening, with a rolled paper in hand, in which he had concealed 1.510 kg of ganja.

It was expected to fetch Rs 30,000 in illegal trade. A case has been registered in the town police station.

Earlier on the day, on receipt of a tip-off, DCIB assistant sub inspector Rosario D’Souza and team nabbed four persons from near the Tempo stand in Manipal, who were looking for buyers for ganja.

The arrested persons are Muhammed Tanzil (20) of Pragati Nagar, Alevoor, Arun (36) of Manchikere, and Vikalp Shukla (20) and Bharat (19), both of Uttar Pradesh origin, currently living in Manipal.

Ganja weighing 260 gms of value Rs 5,000 in illegal market was seized from them. A case has been registered in Manipal police station.
