Accra, Jan 7 (IANS) Ghana’s Black Stars side has lined up two friendly matches as preparation continues for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) football in Equatorial Guinea later this month.

The team is currently in Seville, Spain, to fine-tune ahead of the tournament and will first play Portuguese side Olhanense Wednesday before facing German club Freiburg next week, reports Xinhua.

The Ghana-Olhanense match will be played at the Algarve Stadium in Portugal and it will be the first official game under new coach Avram Grant in preparation for Africa’s flagship football event.

The Black Stars will travel across the border to face Olhanense, hours before coach Grant names his final 23-member squad for the competition starting Jan 17.

Ghana’s match against Freiburg has been tentatively fixed for Jan 14 at the Estadio Olmpico de Sevilla, before the team departs to Equatorial Guinea.

Talks are underway for the Ghanaian side to play another friendly against Dutch club Cambuur Leeuwarden.

Ghana will play in Group C of the 2015 event alongside Senegal, South Africa and Algeria and will open their campaign against Senegal Jan 19.
