Ghar Wapsi for Haladi Srinivas Shetty to BJP, resigns as Independent MLA
Kundapur: Kundapura Constituency independent MLA Haladi Srinivas Shetty tendered his resignation from the Karnataka Legislative Assembly on Tuesday, January 30.
The MLA submitted his resignation to the Karnataka assembly Speaker K B Koliwad at his bungalow in Ranebennur of Haveri District on Tuesday Evening at 5:30 pm, which the latter accepted.
There was a strong rumour that he would join the BJP before the 2018 assembly elections, but local BJP leaders were opposing him joining the BJP. Earlier Srinivas Shetty had said that Due to some technical reasons he was not joining the BJP but now since the assembly elections are nearing he has decided to tender his resignation as MLA (independent) before joining the BJP.
When Mangalorean.com contacted Haladi Srinivas Shetty over the phone about his joining the BJP, he said that After the speaker would accept his resignation he would discuss the matter with his followers and party leaders and then announce his decision.
Haladi Srinivas Shetty had left the BJP in 2012 after he was denied a cabinet berth in the BJP government led by Jagadish Shettar.
