Goa Maroons, Tuskers share points – United Goans beat Indian Strikers

Kuwait: As the temperatures go down in the State of Kuwait, playing conditions are becoming more favourable to football players.

In the 5th week KIFF league matches played on 24th November under cool weather conditions, Goa Maroons took on Kerala oriented Tuskers FC.

Maroons started the match strongly scoring within 2 minutes through their captain Steven Rodrigues. From then on everyone thought Maroons would win in a tennis score, instead, Maroons’ strikers squandered chances galore, allowing Tuskers to come back into the game.

Tuskers grew in confidence as the match progressed. Finally, before the lemon break, a misunderstanding between Maroons goalkeeper Britto Pereira and a defender brought smiles on Tuskers as they equalized through Maroons’ own goal.

Second half was all rusty with neither team taking control of the game; Maroons did hit the goal post before the end, however, the match ended 1-1.

ShemeerMeejan of Tuskers was awarded the man of the match award presented by Majeed P.A. Asst Sports Sec of KIFF.

The match was officiated by Christopher, Rosario and Romeo.

The second match was played between United Goan Centre and Indian Strikers FC.

Both teams knew that a win is a must, so both started the match cautiously. Most of the duels were in midfield.

In the 18th minute, UGC started a move from their defence and scored through Vaseem. Thereafter Indian Strikers did try to penetrate UGC defence but to no avail and finally, the match ended 1-0 in favour of UGC.

Nahas P Abdu of UGC was awarded the man of the match presented by Ex-President of KIFF Anthony Correia.

Officials of the match were Rosario, Sameer and Nameer.

Skynet Miracles took on Pen Friends United in the last match of the day.

Skynet had been very good in their last two matches but somehow they were given no control of the ball by Pen Friends.

Playing to earn their first point of the season, Pen Friends started strongly and had the better share of chances in the game.

With experience and some star players like Christo, Deigo in the side, Skynet Miracles knew that they had to win the match to keep their winning streak going but failed to convert on chances they got in the first half.

On the other end, Pen Friends did all they can but Alvaro in the goal for Skynet was too good all day.

The match ended in a scoreless draw giving Pen Friends their first point in the League. Skynet Miracles still top the table.

Man of the match was awarded to Uni Krishnan of Pen Friends and presented by Gasper Crasto.

The match was officiated by Robert, Sameer and Nameer.

Santos United were the day’s organizers.
