Harish Murder and Two Youth Suicide Mystery Cracked, Prime Accused Arrested

Kasargod: The Kumble police have cracked the murder of Naikapu Harish and the two youth who were missing and found hanging in the forest and arrested the prime accused in the murder of Harish on August 19.

On August 17 night, Harish (38) from Naikapu working in Bhagavati Oil and Flour Mill at Kumble, was brutally murdered when he was returning home from work. In this connection, the Kumble police have arrested the prime accused Sharath alias Srikumar (25) from Kumble.

During interrogation, the accused Sharath revealed that Harish was working as PA and driver of the owner of the mill. Last year Sharath had joined the mill as a driver and since there was a misunderstanding between Sharath and Harish. Last week Sharath had assaulted Harish in the loading and unloading issues which later ended in the murder of Harish.

On August 17 at around 8 pm, Sharath visited the houses of Manikanta and Roshan, saying that there was work to transport sand. Sharath entertained them with liquor and cleverly persuaded them to kill Harish. Sharath took Manikanta and Roshan to a remote area in Naikapu, in his vehicle. At around 10:40 pm while Harish was returning home on his bike, at Naikapu all the four attacked Harish. Severely injured Harish died on the spot. At around 11:40 pm, when a person passing by saw Harish in a pool of blood, he informed the locals who rushed Harish to the hospital, but he succumbed to the injuries.

After the crime, Sharath dropped all the three including Roshan and Manikanta near Sri Gopalkrishna Sabha Bhavan. But Roshan and Manikanta were drunk and unable to go home. Later, when they realized that they had committed a crime and would be arrested, both went to Shedigumme forest and committed suicide by hanging. With the arrest of Sharath, all the accused were identified.
