Hippopotamus, New Arrival to Pilikula Zoo

Mangaluru: More and more animals are being added to the population at Pilikula Nisargadhama and the Pilikula zoo is getting more and more popularity with the arrival of new animals. In the recent exchange programme, the Pilikula Zoo received a Hippopotamus on March 16.

Speaking to mangalorean.com Director Pilikula Biological Park H Jayaprakash Bhandary said, “The male Hippopotamus which arrived today, March 16 from the Bannerghatta National Park, is 10-year-old. In addition, two female Hippopotamus, one female Bengal Tiger, one female Common Langur and 10 night Heron birds will reach the Pilikula Zoo here during next week.”

Jayaprakash further said, “From the Pilikula Zoo we are sending 1 male Bengal tiger, 1 Common Langur male, 2 Common Palm Civet, 1 Golden Jackal, 4 Barking deer, 4 Red jungle fowl and 2 Lesser Whistling Teal to the Bannerghatta National Park. People who visit the Pilikula Zoo will have an opportunity to see the newly arrived Hippopotamus”, said Bhandary.
