London, Dec 13 (IANS) England manager Roy Hodgson would probably remain in his position till the World Cup in 2018, Football Association chief executive Martin Glenn said on Sunday.

Hodgson was roped in 2012 and he has a contract penned till Euro 2016.

“If we do well in the Euros, then he is our man for 2018 – and I believe we will do well in the Euros,” Glenn was quoted as saying by the BBC.

“If we see progress, this will make us feel that Roy is the best person to take this young team forward and really fire at the next two tournaments.”

In Euro 2016, England have been placed in a group consisting of Wales, Russia and Slovakia.

FA chairman Greg Dyke also echoed the same sentiments as Glenn, saying: “If we’ve been successful we will want him to stay on, if less successful then we would have to think again.”

“I think if we don’t get out of the group stage Hodgson wouldn’t want to continue.”
