ICYM Karkala Deanery holds ‘Yuva Samagam 2019’
Karkala: The Indian Catholic Youth Movement Karkala deanery level youth convention “Yuva Samagam 2019” was held at the St. Maria Goretti Church hall, Hirgan on July 21.
The deanery-level programme comprised of an inaugural ceremony followed by a session on Small Christian Communities (SCC) and its methodology.
The programme was inaugurated by lighting of the lamp by the chief guest Fr Harold Pereira Secretary of Commission for Small Christian Communities (SCC). Fr Roshan D’Souza; Fr Roy Lobo, director, ICYM Karkal deanery; Clinton Cardoza, president, ICYM Karkala Deanery and Preemal, Secretary of ICYM Karkal deanery; Elsi D’Souza Animator of Karkal Deanery; Neil Mathias president of ICYM Hirgan unit and Zeena D’Silva Animator of ICYM Hirgan unit were present for the inaugural programme.
Fr Harold Pereira Secretary of the Commission for Small Christian Communities (SCC) conducted the morning session based on Small Christian Communities.
Post lunch ICYM groups from seven parishes presented the cultural programme. Details of the programme is as follows:

The valedictory function was presided by Fr Sunil D’Silva, Ex-ICYM Director of Karkal deanery. Other dignitaries on the dais were Fr Anil Victor Cornelio, Parish priest of Hirgan; Fr George D’Souza; Fr Roy Lobo, director, ICYM Karkal deanery; Rector St Lawrence Minor Basilica; Fr Thomas Roshan D’Souza, Resident priest of Hirgan Church; Elsi D’Souza Animator of Karkal Deanery; Dion D’Souza, ICYM diocese president; Clinton Cardoza and Preemal pinto ICYM deanery president and secretary respectively; Neil Mathias president of ICYM Hirgan unit and Zeena D’Silva Animator of ICYM Hirgan unit.
During the valedictory function Fr Sunil D’Silva, Ex-ICYM Director of Karkal deanery was felicitated.
The sponsors of the event, as well as the judges of the competitions Derick Mascarenhas and Lydia Andrade, were honoured.
Melvita Britto welcomed the gathering and Wenzil Agera delivered the vote of thanks. The event concluded with the ICYM anthem.
