ICYM Udupi Diocese Presents ‘Film Rush 2026’: Five Deaneries, Five Stories, One Vision
- Konkani short film competition showcases youth talent as part of YUVA DABAZO 2026
Udupi: The Indian Catholic Youth Movement (ICYM), Diocese of Udupi, organized ‘Film Rush 2026’, a diocesan-level Konkani short film competition as part of YUVA DABAZO 2026 – Diocesan Youth Convention.
The competition brought together young filmmakers and creative talents from all five deaneries of the Diocese of Udupi — Karkala, Shirva, Udupi, Kallianpur and Kundapur — with each deanery presenting a short film based on unique stories, emotions and perspectives.
The five films were officially released on September 8, 2026, at 7 p.m. through the Youth Commission, Diocese of Udupi YouTube Channel, under the theme “Called to Love, Sent to Serve.”
Five Deaneries, Five Films
1. ‘ಚುಕೊನ್ ಗೆಲ್ಲಿ ಶೆಳಿ’ – ICYM Karkala Deanery
The film explores choices, emotions, trust and unexpected consequences, taking viewers through elements of suspense, drama and unexpected twists.
2. ‘Akhreche Utar’ – ICYM Shirva Deanery
A meaningful short film centred on faith, purpose and the journey of becoming the miracle, presenting a message of hope and belief.
3. ‘GUPITH SATH’ – ICYM Udupi Deanery
The film presents a heartfelt story about love, relationships, struggles, understanding and forgiveness, while exploring the unexpected ways in which life teaches people to care for one another.
4. ‘Hanv Patki’ – ICYM Kallianpur Deanery
With the tagline “One Crime. Two Sides of Justice,” the film explores the themes of crime, truth and justice from different perspectives.
5. ‘THEN I WILL’ – ICYM Kundapur Deanery
A gripping tale of mystery, suspense, secrets and unexpected twists, the film carries a message that even in times of darkness, God shows a path forward.
Celebrating Youth, Creativity and Konkani Culture
‘Film Rush 2026’ was more than just a filmmaking competition. The initiative provided the youth of the Diocese of Udupi with an opportunity to discover, develop and showcase their filmmaking talents, while bringing together young people from all five deaneries.
Through their films, the participants demonstrated their creativity, storytelling abilities and filmmaking skills, while also contributing to the promotion of the Konkani language and culture through cinema.
The initiative has created a new platform for young talents to collaborate, tell meaningful stories and explore the world of filmmaking.
ICYM Udupi Diocese congratulated all the young participants, filmmaking teams, coordinators and everyone who worked behind the scenes to make Film Rush 2026 a success.
Their dedication and creativity have brought pride to the diocese while taking the richness of Konkani storytelling to a wider audience.
