If Modi Govt not hand in glove with Beef exporters Let they stop Beef export – Khader

Mangaluru: “There is a confusion among the people about the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (Regulation of Livestock Markets) Rules, 2017. It is not an act, but rules. These rules are to fool the people. The BJP government has completed three years in the centre and has failed in all aspects. This is a circus made by the BJP government for fooling the people”, said the Minister for Food and Civil Supplies U T Khader in a press meet held at the Circuit House here on June 1.

Addressing the mediapersons Khader said, “Instead of banning the export of beef and withdrawing the subsidy of beef exporters Modi is trying to create confusion among the people of our country. This is not an act, to implement any act, the government should take everyone to confidence and take their opinion. This is a rule in regard to the sale and slaughter of cattle. People do not know the meaning of rules and act. The present rule brought by Modi does not contain the age of the cattle and no mention is made about stopping the slaughter of cattle. This rule has no meaning. Poor people consume beef because of its high content of proteins and affordable cost. This rule is dangerous for the farmers because farmers cannot sell their cattle when they are old and they cannot afford to feed them. The government should open Gaushalas to feed such cattle or provide compensation to the farmers. It is the duty of the government to maintain harmony and brotherhood in the country. The government knows that the people who are against this rule will get justice. This rule is to fool the people for vote bank.”

Khader further said, “Such confusion in the country will be watched by our enemies. The government should not create confusion among the people of the country and give the opportunity for our enemies to take advantage of the situation. In a democracy being dishonest is very harmful. Instead of bringing such rules, let the government create employment, build schools and work for the welfare of the people. The central government is giving subsidy to beef exporters, they do not have the courage to stop their subsidy. If the central government has the courage and if they are not involved with them in the export of beef let they stop the export of beef,” Khader challenged.

Khader also said, “A farmer purchases a cow and after some years when the cow is old it is of no use for him. What will the farmer do with that cow? Will the central government compensate the farmer to look after the cow? or will the government take care of such cows? If the government cannot take care of the old cows why then is the government creating confusion among the people?” Questioned Khader.
