IGP Harishekaran Receives Best Service Award from American Consulate General

Bengaluru: The American Consulate General has awarded Best Service Award to Inspector General of Police KSRPC P Harishekaran IPS.

While IGP Harishekaran was working as the additional Police Commissioner in Bengaluru West division, he found that a number of children were being trafficked from Bengaluru to the US. To curb human trafficking, under the leadership of Harishekaran a Special Investigation Team (SIT) was formed.

Harishekaran identified 17 persons including an agent from Gujarat who was involved in human trafficking especially the children and arrested them.

Later during investigations, it was revealed that the majority of the children trafficked were from the state of Gujarat. Harishekaran is the first IPS officer to receive this prestigious international Service Award.

P Harishekaran a 1996 batch IPS officer had earlier worked as Inspector General of Police (IGP) for Western Range. At Present Harishekaran is the Inspector General of Police Karnataka State Reserve Police (KSRP), Bengaluru.
