II JMFC Court Directs Authority to Shift Quraishi to KMC Hospital

Mangaluru: The second JMFC court has directed the Police commissioner of Mangaluru to admit Ahmad Quraishi to the KMC Hospital for further treatment as he is suffering from Kidney failure, here on April 6.

Ahmed Quraishi was arrested on March 21 by the CCB police when he was having lunch in the court canteen. It is also alleged that police atrocities on Quraishi have caused damage to his Kidneys. At present, he is in the ICU at Wenlock Hospital but without proper facilities to treat Kidney patients and also without specialized doctors for kidney treatment in the government hospital, the court has directed Quraishi to be admitted to KMC Hospital for treatment.

On April 4, advocate Dinesh Ulipady filed an application to the court stating, “There is a danger to the life and health of Ahmad Quraishi at the hands of the police and doctors. The police while producing Quraishi before the magistrate did not produce convincing documents and there are no specialized doctors at the Wenlock hospital.

The Judge considered the request of advocate Ulipady on behalf of Quraishi and directed the investigation officer to provide proper safety and security to Quraishi in the hospital. The investigation officer shall report the condition of the accused to the court from time to time with a detailed report of his health condition.

The intimation has been served to the Commissioner of police, investigation officer, jail superintendent and the Medical Officer KMC by the court.
