India No.2 in ODI rankings despite loss to Proteas

Dubai, Nov 9 (IANS) Despite losing the five-match series 2-3 to South Africa, India stayed put at No.2 in the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) One-Day International (ODI) team rankings released on Monday.

Reigning World champions Australia continued to lead the table with 123 points while India are second with 114. The Proteas are third with 112 points.

There was no movement either in the top-10 ODI batsmen rankings as South Africa’s AB de Villiers still occupied the No.1 spot with India Test captain Virat Kohli closely following in second position.

India’s limited overs skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni and opening batsman Shikhar Dhawan occupied sixth and seventh positions respectively.

Sunil Narine of the West Indies is the top-ranked ODI bowler and is followed by Mitchell Starc of Australia. Spinner Ravichandran Ashwin is the highest ranked Indian bowler at 10th spot.
