Indian Social Forum Riyadh celebrates 70th Republic Day
Riyadh: The celebration of the 70th Republic Day was held on January 26th by the Central Committee of the Indian Social Forum Riyadh at the Al Mas Restaurant Auditorium, People from different Indian states were present during the occasion.
The programme was inaugurated by playing the unity song. Vijay Kumar Singh, the second secretary (Community Welfare) of the Indian Embassy was the chief guest, Speaking after inaugurating the programme, he said, “This is an occasion to commemorate the values of our democracy and Republic, to reaffirm our commitment to liberty, fraternity and equality across our society and among all our citizens.”
He also spoke about India’s relationship with KSA and mentioned the contribution of Indians in the IT sector and other joint projects. He said that the contribution of Indians is acknowledged by Saudi officials. He urged the Indian communities to volunteer in the welfare works and praised the welfare work of the Indian Social Forum.
Social Forum Central Committee Vice-president Rasheed Khan presided over the programme. In his presidential speech Rasheed Khan urged everyone to keep continuing their good work for the Nation as well as for the Indian community in Saudi Arabia.
Indian Social Forum Riyadh, Karnataka State Committee member Mohammed Naveed delivered the Republic day message. He said that India was formed based on the concept of ‘unity in diversity’ and it becomes every Indians responsibility to safeguard it.
Dr Nadeem Tareen – Chief Patron Indian Business Forum, Ilyas Tirur -President of India Fraternity Forum Regional Committee, Malik Ibrahim – President Tamil Sangam Riyadh, Sajjad Sahir – IMCC Saudi National Committee, Zaigham Khan – Alighar Alumni Amuba, Ubaid Edavanna – President Media Forum Riyadh, Haneef Basroor – member of Qidma Foundation Udupi Karnataka, Akhtarul Islam – Member of Bihar Ajuman and Ibrahim Tharayil were present on the dais and spoke on the occassion.
The programme concluded singing the National Anthem. Basheer Karandur, General Secretary of Social Forum Central Committee, welcomed the gathering and Central Committee member Ahmed Javed Andra Pradesh delivered the vote of thanks. Fathruddeen Tamilnadu compered ther programme.
