Input Chief of TV Channel Hemanth Kashyap Arrested in Extortion Case

Bengaluru: The Sadashiva Nagar police have arrested the input department chief of Public TV in an extortion case on March 19.

The arrested has been identified as Hemanth Kashyap. He is the input department chief of Public TV.

According to the complainant, Hemanth Kashyap was blackmailing Dr Raman Rao saying that he had the doctor’s personal video and demanded Rs 5 lakh. Hemanth Kashyap also threatened that if the money would not be paid the video would be telecasted in his Channel. Dr Raman Rao paid Rs 5 lakh to Kashyap which was captured in the CCTV of the Nursing home.

Later Kashyap demanded a sum of Rs 50 lakh issuing the same threat. Dr Raman then filed a case in the Sadashiv Nagar police station. On March 19, Dr Raman asked Kashyap to collect the amount from the Nursing Home. When Hemanth Kashyap came to the Nursing home to collect the money, the Sadashiv Nagar police arrested him red handed.

Another TV channel reporter Manjunath had also blackmailed the same doctor and had extorted money from him, the incident has been recorded in the CCTV. Manjunath is now absconding and search is on for him.

Hemanth Kashyap has also threatened the police of action against them for arresting him.
