Instead of Asking to Clap Hands, Let Govt Pay Salary to Corona Warriors – U T Khader

Mangaluru: “The NHM contract staff of the Health Department did not get their salary from the past two months. They are working as corona warriors, and the state government has done injustice with them by not paying their salary. Instead of clapping hands, lighting candles or showering flower petals, let the government take necessary measures to pay their salary which is pending from two months”, said the former Minister and MLA of Ullal constituency U T Khader in a press meet held at the Circuit House here on May 30.

Addressing the mediapersons, U T Khader said, “The corona warriors are putting their life at risk and serving in the COVID hospital. If the government does not pay their salary on time, how can they survive? The government is giving assurances to the Corona Warriors, but not doing anything to support them. From two months, they have not received their salary. The government would have given a good package for the Corona Warriors, but in our state, the families of 23,000 contract and outsourced staff will come to the road”.

U T Khader further said, “To fight against the COVID, people from all over the country have contributed to the PM cares fund. Such funds should be used to support Corona warriors. The central government should also announce the contribution received to the PM Cares fund from various donors.”

Stressing on the ban for people from 5 states to Karnataka, U T Khader said, “The Karnataka government has banned entry to people from Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan which is a wrong decision by the state government. Kannadigas who are in Maharastra are they not our people? The government should take necessary measures to bring back people from the Gulf countries and other states.”

U T Khader also said, “In the beginning, the Minister and the MP said that we have taken all the measures to quarantine the people and also arranged trains for quarantine. Where are those trains and facilities to quarantine people? Khader questioned.

“The state government has failed to bring Kannadigas from Gulf countries. So far 28 flights have landed in Kerala, but only two flights have landed in Mangaluru. The MP, as well as the BJP state president Nalin Kumar Kateel, has failed in bringing back Kannadigas from the Gulf countries. 20% of Mangaloreans were working in Kasaragod, and people from Kasargod were also working in Mangaluru. Now they have lost their jobs as the borders are closed. They should be provided passes to travel on a daily basis,” said Khader.
