Intelligence Totally Failed to Arrest the Accused until he Reached Bengaluru – U T Khader

Mangaluru: “The accused who placed the explosive device in Mangaluru International Airport has been arrested and we should all appreciate it. The lax in the security of the airport was a serious issue which the government should take very seriously. I would like to ask the department what the intelligence was doing? After placing the explosive in the Mangaluru International Airport, the accused reached Bengaluru safely and surrendered to the police today. The police department should investigate this issue thoroughly. Former CM Kumaraswamy has also handled the intelligence and home department and is well aware of its operations.  Being in the opposition Kumaraswamy has questioned about it to clear his doubt. For me, the region is more important and not religion”, said the former minister U T Khader in a press meet held at the Circuit House here on January 22.

When questioned about Kumaraswamy’s statement about the explosive device at MIA, Khader said, “Two days ago the accused came to the airport by auto and placed the explosive device near the ticket counter and later reached Bengaluru safely. What was the Intelligence was doing? Why was he not traced in Mangaluru? Why did the Dog squad fail? Whoever is behind this act should be severely punished. This is a total failure of the government”.

U T Khader further said, “Now there are rumours that the accused is mentally ill, I doubt whether those saying that he is mental are sick because the accused was mentally sound when he placed the explosive device at the ticket counter, he knew how to cover his face wearing the cap and without any problems reached Bengaluru. There must be someone behind him, a thorough investigation should be done and all those responsible should be arrested. Who sent him to the airport to place the explosive? How did he reach Bengaluru? Intelligence failed to arrest the accused. The canine squad also failed to track the accused”.
