International Kite Festival Special Attraction of Karavali Utsav – DC Sindhu

Mangaluru: “A variety of cultural programmes are scheduled between 10 to 19 January on the occasion of Karavali Utsav being organized by the DK District Administration at the Karavali Utsav grounds, Kadri Park and Panambur Beach which will be held every day. The International Kite Festival will be a special attraction during the Karavali Utsav”, said the Deputy commissioner Sindhu Roopesh on January 3 at a meeting held at the DC Office.

Cultural programmes will be presented by budding local artistes of State, National and International fame. All facilities for the cultural programmes will be set up at the Kadri park and Karavali Utsav grounds. The programme will begin with a cultural procession from Nehru Maidan on 10 January followed by the Inauguration at the Karavali Utsav grounds.

From January 17 to 19 the International kite festival will be held at Panambur Beach. Expert Kite flyers from Singapore, Cambodia, Indonesia, Philippines, Scotland, Turkey, Thailand, Netherlands and Holland will take part. Kite flyers from Australia and Zurich have also consented to take part in the festival. The district administration has formed subcommittees for the success of the international kite festival. All the necessary measures have been taken to provide accommodation, travel and other facilities to the kite flyers from around the world.

On January 11, a district-level sports meet will be held. The sports meet will begin at 9 am. A football match for High School boys will be held at the Nehru Maidan. The volleyball match for PU students and Throwball match for High school girls will be held at the Mangala Sports ground. Basketball will be held for men and women at Mangala grounds. Those who want to participate in the sports and games should submit their entry forms through their organization heads to the Deputy Director Youth Empowerment and Sports Department Mangala Stadium, Mangaluru by January 9.

On December 28, a Cartoon competition will be held for students. All the events are open to all art lovers. All are requested to attend with friends and family and enjoy the Karavali Utsav.
