Itinerary of PM Modi’s Whirlwind Visit to Mangaluru-Kasaragod Announced

Mangaluru: Prime minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Kerala during the coming days to take part in election campaigns ahead of assembly elections.

On the first leg of the tour, he will arrive in Mangaluru airport at 9-45 am on May 8, en route to Kerala. He will depart from the city’s airport to Kasaragod by helicopter at 9-50 am.

After attending the rally in the municipal stadium, he will return by helicopter and land in Mangaluru at 11-55 am and fly to Kochi at 12 noon.

Preparatory meetings

A high-level meetings of officials was held in the office of the deputy commissioner on Wednesday. Decisions were taken to take care of the PM’s visit and of his security team, besides deployment of security machinery, medical, accommodation and emergency services to be kept on standby.

DC A B Ibrahim, western range IGP Amrit Paul, city police commissioner Chandra Sekhar, additional DC Kumar, airport director J T Radhakrishna and others took part in the deliberations.

In Kasaragod also, a high-level officials’ meeting was held in the district collector’s office. The entire security will be handled by the National Security Group (NSG) throughout the election tour of the PM, according to informed sources.
