James Blunt’s casual attitude key to handling social media

London, April 9 (IANS) Singer James Blunt says his ability to not take the platform “too seriously” has helped him maintain a healthy relationship with the social media.

The 44-year-old singer has developed a reputation for his amusing and sarcastic messages on his Twitter account, which has 1.75 million followers. Blunt says he “doesn’t really care about it so much”.

“I just think that humans should be kind to each other and treat each other nicer. But on social media, some people don’t. So, I laugh to myself when I’m reading them, and don’t take them too seriously,” Blunt told Star2 magazine.

On his tracks, Blunt revealed that one of them in his new album has a distinctly political tone.

“In a world where politicians try to divide us, music brings us together. I have a song on the new album called ‘Someone Sing Along’ that was specifically inspired by Donald Trump, and the divisive politics that he talks about,” he said.

“I don’t see a difference between skin colour or sexuality – we are all humans with the same hopes and fears and the same dreams for ourselves and for our children,” he added.
