If JD(S) Comes to Power Every Pregnant Woman will get Rs 36,000 – Kumaraswamy

Mangaluru: “I am committed to the people and if JD(S) comes to power in Karnataka I have various welfare and development plans for the people of Karnataka. At present, the Siddaramaiah government has started the Mathru Purna scheme for pregnant women but if we will come to power we will provide Rs 36,000 for every pregnant woman. The elderly will get Rs 5000 pension every month. Health Insurance scheme will be launched for every citizen. The Yettinahole project is not a project but a scam to loot taxpayers money if the JD(S) comes to power many will go to jail for this scam”, said the former Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy in a press meet held at the Circuit House here on December 28.

Addressing the mediapersons Kumaraswamy said, “29TMC water will not be available with the Yettinahole project. But I say that people of Kolar, Tumkuru and Chikkaballapur should get water. When the BJP was in power the then CM D V Sadananda had given approval for the Yettinahole project. Later the Congress government continued the project and assured of providing water to the people of Kolar, Tumkuru and Chikkaballapur within a year but from the last 5 years, they are unable to complete the project. The people of DK had also protested against the project but the State government did not stop the project. The Yettinahole project will not benefit the people and both the parties are playing with the sentiments of the people.”

Kumaraswamy further said, “The Chief Minister of Karnataka Siddaramaiah has not done any development work. Whatever was started five years ago is being inaugurated by him now. The election is nearing and the CM is busy giving advertisements in Newspapers about the development works. I am happy that at least the media has benefitted from the advertisements. In Dakshina Kannada district a man was recently stabbed, it was because of personal enmity which led to the stabbing but the political parties have given it a communal colour. Earlier there was communal unrest only in Dakshina Kannada but now it has reached Uttara Kannada too. Even the law and order situation has failed, the mob had attempted to set IGP’s car on fire. People have no fear of the law. Earlier people used to be afraid of the police, but now they are ready to take the law into their hands and setting fire to the IGP’s car has proved it.”

Kumaraswamy also said, “Instead of talking about development work the Congress party is busy in criticising the BJP. This time people of the state want changes and I hope the people will surely vote for the JD(S). I urge the people to support us and give us a chance to win the forthcoming elections. We will not join hands with any party, this time we will form the government,” added Kumaraswamy.

Briefing on the convention which will be held on January 9, Kumaraswamy said, “In Dakshina Kannada, we want communal harmony. People fight in the name of religion. In order to stop communal violence in the district and create a new chapter in Mangaluru, we are organizing a Harmony meet at the Nehru Maidan on January 9. People from Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and other parts of the state will be taking part in the programme.”

When asked about the Harmony march organized by the Congress party to create communal harmony in the district, why the need for another Harmony meet by JD(S)? Kumaraswamy said, “In Kalladka there was communal unrest and to create communal harmony Minister Ramanath Rai had organized a Harmony march in Bantwal and not in Mangaluru. We will not entertain any organizations that indulge in communal violence.”

State JD(S) Secretary B M Farooq, former minister Amarnath Shetty, Boje Gowda, Mohammed Kunhi, Ashwin Pereira, M B Sadashiv, Akshith Suvarna, Chittaranjan Shetty and others were also present.
