Kishan Hegde Kolkebail Takes Charge as New Udupi District Congress President
Udupi: Newly appointed Udupi District Congress Committee president Kishan Hegde Kolkebail said that every decision he takes would not be that of a Congress president, but that of an ordinary party worker.
He was speaking after formally assuming charge as the new district Congress president at the District Congress office in Brahmagiri, Udupi, on Thursday.

Kishan Hegde said he would never forget the opportunity and honour bestowed on him by the Congress party. He said he would work with the objective of reaching out to every party worker. He added that his own journey was an example of how patience and perseverance could help a person take on responsibilities in the Congress party.

He said that instead of expressing his views and thoughts only from public platforms, he would give priority to visiting the homes of party workers and interacting with them directly. His objective, he said, was to remain in constant touch with party workers and respond to their opinions and concerns.
Outgoing District Congress Committee president Ashok Kumar Kodavoor formally handed over charge to the newly appointed president Kishan Hegde Kolkebail.

Speaking on the occasion, KPCC Working President Manjunath Bhandary said the occasion was not merely a transfer of power but a transfer of responsibility. He said that in the past, national leaders appointed office-bearers after seeking the opinions of local leaders, whereas the present selection was made after obtaining the views of party workers.
He stressed that the demands and concerns of every Congress worker should be addressed without discrimination. The Congress office should remain accessible to party workers at all times, he said, emphasising the need to strengthen the party organisation.
He called for greater focus on strengthening the party organisation in view of the upcoming Gram Panchayat, Taluk Panchayat and Zilla Panchayat elections. The party should be strengthened from the grassroots by taking party workers into confidence, he said.

Outgoing president Ashok Kumar Kodavoor expressed his gratitude to all party workers who supported him during his seven years and seven months in office. He also assured that he would extend his full cooperation to the new president in strengthening the party organisation.
KPCC Campaign Committee President Vinay Kumar Sorake, former MP Jayaprakash Hegde, Coastal Development Authority Chairman M.A. Gafoor, former MLA Gopal Poojary, Udupi Block Congress Committee President Ramesh Kanchan, Campaign Committee President Alevoor Harish Kini, Congress leaders Prasad Raj Kanchan, Hariprasad Rai, Veronica Cornelio, Vishwas Amin, Krishna Shetty Bajagoli, Dinesh Hegde Molahalli, Jyothi Hebbar, Prashanth Jatanna, Rajshekhar Kotyan, Roshni Oliver and others were present.
