KJU Condemns Shutting Down Power TV, Submit Memorandum to DC

Mangaluru: Members of the Karnataka Journalists Union met Deputy commissioner Dr Rajendra K V and submitted a memorandum on September 29, in connection with the shutting down of Power TV by the State Government.

Before submitting the memorandum, General Secretary of KJU Taranath Kapikad said, “It is unfortunate that the state government has shut down the TV Channel. If the Channel has telecasted fake news, there is the court to take action. All of a sudden stopping the telecast and shutting down the TV Channel by the government is not right and tantamount to an assault on democracy”.

Taranath further said, “When there was an emergency, the media was restricted from telecasting the news. But the government claims that it had fought against the emergency and now being in power the same government has done injustice to the media, which KJU strongly condemns. KJU demands the government to withdraw its decision and allow Power TV to operate as usual.”

DC Dr Rajendra accepted the memorandum and assured to look into the matter.
