KMC Hospital and Mangaluru Traffic Police Launch Heart-Smart City Initiative
Mangaluru: KMC Hospital, B.R. Ambedkar Circle, Mangaluru, in association with the Mangaluru City Traffic Police, has launched a public awareness initiative to promote cardiovascular health and encourage healthier lifestyles among citizens, aiming to make Mangaluru a “Heart-Smart City.”
The initiative seeks to bring heart health awareness into citizens’ everyday lives and encourage them to adopt healthy habits.
As part of the initiative, awareness displays featuring a heart-shaped visual and a QR code have been installed at PVS Junction and Lalbagh Junction, two prominent traffic intersections in the city. The displays encourage commuters and pedestrians to pause and reflect on their heart health, while the QR code provides access to additional information.
By taking health awareness into public spaces, KMC Hospital and the Mangaluru City Traffic Police aim to make preventive healthcare more accessible and relevant to people across the city.
The initiative also seeks to remind citizens that protecting heart health begins with small, conscious steps, including maintaining a healthy lifestyle, staying physically active, and being aware of cardiovascular risk factors.
Speaking about the initiative, Pramod Kunder, Hospital Director, KMC Hospital Mangaluru, said, “Heart health deserves attention in our everyday lives, not just when a health concern arises. Through this initiative, in association with the Mangaluru City Traffic Police, we aim to take the message of heart health beyond hospital premises and into the city’s public spaces.
“The displays at PVS and Lalbagh junctions encourage people to pause, learn more about their heart health, and take proactive steps towards prevention. Our shared vision is to make Mangaluru a Heart-Smart City where awareness and healthier choices become part of everyday life.”
The joint initiative reaffirms the commitment of KMC Hospital and the Mangaluru City Traffic Police to promoting public health awareness and encouraging citizens to make informed choices for better cardiovascular health.
