KMC Hospitals Mangaluru to Unveil a Unique Exhibition on Cancer Awareness, followed by a novel Yakshagana show- Arbudasura Garvabhangha (Defeat of Demon Cancer) in the evening on Sunday, 3 February 2019

Mangaluru: Addressing the media persons during a press meet held at Mangaluru Press Club, Dr Sachidanand Rai, President of Indian Medical Association said, “Ahead of “World Cancer Day”, KMC Hospitals Mangaluru with an aim to educate, motivate and create awareness on cancer announced mega cancer awareness exhibition that will be inaugurated 3rd February 2019 at Kadri Park. This first of its kind initiative is in partnership with Department of Hematology and Oncology, KMC Hospital along with Lions Club Kadri Hills, Mangaluru, Indian Medical Association, Mangaluru and Association of Medical Consultants, Mangaluru. Honorable District Commissioner will unveil the exhibition at 9.30 a.m. on Sunday, 3 February 2019 in Kadri Park, Mangaluru”.

“Through this unique initiative, we plan to increase awareness on cancer which is a deadly disease and can affect people of any age group. This is an extremely educative exhibition. KMC Hospitals is always at the forefront when it comes to creating awareness and keeping people informed. Our department of Hematology and Oncology at KMC Hospitals is well equipped to handle the most complicated cases, owing to a competent pool of doctors and state of the art technology at KMC Hospital. We on behalf of the organizers invite everyone for this program and request everyone to make use of the knowledge that will be shared. “ added Dr Rai.

Also speaking on the occasion, Dr Prashantha B, Consultant Hematologist, KMC Hospitals Mangaluru said, “Awareness is the key when it comes to Cancer as there are a lot of myths associated with the deadly diseases. In fact, fear is the first thing which comes to our mind with cancer. It is important to be informed and therefore this exhibition is aimed at creating awareness through various pictorial posters. Early detection and treatment is key besides making simple lifestyle changes. Regular exercise, routine health checks, balanced meals and staying away from tobacco is the mantra to keep cancer at bay.”

There will be nearly 100 pictorial posters explaining the basic information regarding cancer. Entertainment program from the members of Lions Club Kadri Hills from 10.30 am to 11.30 am is planned. There will be a valedictory function at 6.30 pm by Indian Medical Association and Association of Medical consultants followed by a novel Yakshagana show- Arbudasura Garvabhangha (Defeat of Demon Cancer). This Yakshagana is specially written and aced by eminent doctors of Mangaluru who are also honourable members of Indian Medical Association.

Dr Harsha Prasada, Pediatric Hemato Oncologist, KMC Hospital, Mangaluru, Dr Thajuddin, Secretary Association of Medical Consultants, and Ms Geetha, President of Lions Club Kadri Hills were also present on the dais during the press meet.
