‘Konkani Lekhak Sangh’ holds interlocution with veteran littérateur Eddy Netto

Mangaluru: A literary discussion was held with veteran Konkani author, retired flight lieutenant Eddy Netto on Sunday, September 2. The programme was arranged by ‘Konkani Lekhak Sangh’ (an association of Konkani authors). Popular Konkani littérateur of humour, CGS, Thakode conducted the discussion.

Eddy Netto, who completed eighty years of his life recently, shared his experiences as an author which spanned half a century from his first article, letters to the editor, rapport with editor and writers, family life and service in Indian air force. He recollected that he received initial encouragement from his first teacher Joachim Santan Alvares.

CGS Takode introduced Eddy Netto and conducted his dialogue with him. Those who were present asked questions to him on various subjects.

Poet Andrew D’Cunha said that he received the taste of Konkani from his father and came to know about current affairs after reading articles by Eddy Netto on politics. “My father used to read loudly the articles of Eddy Netto for my sake. Konkani speaking people have received political knowledge because of Eddy Netto,” he said while honouring Eddy Netto.

Konkani writer Maccha Milar and Irene Rebello who were elected directors at the recent MCC Bank elections were felicitated on the occasion. J F D’Souza, Attavar, who completed 75 years was also honoured.

Konkani Lekhak Sangh leader, Richard Moras Takode was present.
