Konkani Sahitya Academy to Present Honor Awards and Book Awards at Udyavar
Udupi: The Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy has announced the presentation ceremony for its 2025 Honor Awards and Book Awards. The event is scheduled for Sunday, April 26, 2026, starting at 5:00 p.m. at the Udyavar Church in the Udupi district. Academy President Stany Alvares announced this at a press conference held in Udupi.
Shivraj S. Tangadagi, the Minister for Backward Classes Welfare and Kannada and Culture, will inaugurate the program. Academy President Joachim Stany Alvares will preside over the ceremony. Distinguished guests include Kapu MLA Suresh Shetty Gurme and Rt. Rev. Dr. Gerald Isaac Lobo, the retired Bishop of the Udupi Diocese.
In addition to the awards presentation, the ceremony will showcase the Konkani community’s rich cultural heritage. Attendees can look forward to cultural dances from the Kharvi, Siddi, and Kudubi communities, a brass band performance, and a Konkani musical evening.
The Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy annually recognizes and celebrates individuals who have made significant contributions to Konkani literature, art, and folklore. The recipients of the 2025 Honor Awards and Book Awards are as follows:

During the press conference, Academy President Stany Alvares was accompanied by Academy member Naveen Lobo, Prakash Noronha from Parichaya organisation, Steven Colaco from Nirantar Udyavar, Melvin Noronha, Vice President of Udyavar Church, and Wilfred D’Souza, Secretary of Udyavar Church.
